Sue Kirkpatrick-lairdMy journey with yoga began many years ago. Born out of a mountain biking accident, while my injuries healed I discovered the joys of yoga. I found it fascinating to move my body mindfully and gently, yet still experience an intense workout within my body, leaving me feeling strong, relaxed, peaceful and full of vitality. I also discovered many breathing techniques which contributed to a sense of inner calm.

In 2006 I began the journey of watching, living and breathing the slow demise of my husband, James, from cancer. This experience gave me the great honour of nursing James and being with him when he passed away in July 2009. Heart wrenching to say the least, this experience changed my life forever. With yoga I intuitively explored on a deeper level the meaning of life and death.

In more recent years through two separate sporting injuries I broke both my hands and ruptured my Achilles tendon. Supported by my yoga practice and including pilates into my rehabilitation, I recovered from these injuries. Later my health began to suffer as my body had been placed under immense strain for many years – competing in various endurance sports, grieving the loss of my husband and recovering from injuries. I experienced some serious health conditions prompting me to reassess my life, make some changes and get better.

The events in my life and my passion to care for body, mind and soul as a whole have shifted my working career from the business arena to the health arena. Since 2013 I have been teaching Yoga and Pilates, sharing my insights of yoga to help others take care of their bodies and to create space to allow them to discover their own inner healing power and strength.

Initially being drawn to yoga for movement of my body, yoga has enriched my life in so many ways. Yoga sustains me. Yoga has helped me find peace and calm within. Yoga has helped me regain strength and energy to become emotionally resilient, physically fit and healthy again. Yoga has helped me to heal, grow and truly live again, enjoying life with an open heart.

Yoga has been a gift to me and I would like to share this gift with you. Come along and discover your yoga……
